Introduction to the School of Design

Established in June 2019, the School of Design offers two undergraduate majors: Fine Arts and Digital Media Arts. The Fine Arts program was selected as a first-class undergraduate major construction site in Fujian Province. According to the “2020 Blue Book of China’s College Students’ Employment” released by MyCOS, for the fourth consecutive year, the Digital Media Arts program was ranked as a program with consistently high salaries and employment rates and a low amount of unemployment. The college adheres to the principle of “life design aesthetics” and relies on the Wolongshan International Design Forum, Practice Teaching and Service Center, and other platforms to engage in deep cooperation with international universities and 57 enterprises. This collaborative approach fosters innovation and training, leading the development of digital media art disciplines in Fujian Province, and supporting the local economic and cultural construction in Fujian.

The college follows the “aesthetics of life design” and relies on platforms such as the Wolong Mountain International Design Forum, practice teaching and service center, to engage in deep cooperation with international universities and 57 enterprises. Professional teachers at the college have won the third prize at the 14th Outstanding Achievements in Social Sciences in Fujian Province. They have also built 11 provincial virtual simulation and online and offline hybrid gold classes and other projects. Furthermore, in recent years, more than 10 pieces of teachers’ works have been displayed in theme-based art exhibitions organized by the Ministry of Culture, China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, China Art Association. Additionally, nearly 40 students have been admitted to master’s degree programs at renowned universities such as Fuzhou University, Xiamen University, Fujian Normal University, and Nanchang University.

Introduction to the Faculty

The School of Design has an academic team with a well-balanced structure of education, academic background, age, and titles. More than 30% of the teachers hold senior titles, and over 25% of them have experience with overseas training.

Weng Bingfeng: Dean of the School of Design, professor, senior engineer, member of the Fine Arts and Art Design Sub-committee of the national art professional master degree education steering committee.

Jiang Xintong: Associate Dean of the School of Design, Associate Professor, published 9 scientific research papers in provincial and ministerial level journals.

Zhou Xin: Dean of the Department of Digital Media Art, associate professor, craft artist, Ph.D. from Kookmin University of Korea. Published more than ten papers in SCI, KCI, CSSCI and other papers.

Tan Jinping: Director of the Department of Public Art, associate professor. In the past 5 years, he has published nearly 10 academic papers in journals such as Fuzhou University Journal.

Chen Xiaoshan: Associate professor, member of Fujian Meticulous Painting Society, expert of Fujian Provincial Curriculum Ideological and Political Database.

Zhang Hong: Assistant Dean of the School of Design, Lecturer. Obtained more than ten design patents, utility model patents and invention patents.
