Introduction to the School of General Education

Established in 2024, the School of General Education adheres to the educational philosophy of “holistic cultivation through Three Alls Education (whole-person, whole-process, and all-encompassing education)” and “integration of Five Educations (moral, intellectual, physical, aesthetic, and labor education).” It highlights distinctive features of “character building and soul forging,” “aesthetic appreciation and creative development,” “integration of knowledge and practice,” and “keeping pace with the times,” dedicating itself to nurturing high-quality, application-oriented talents.

The school operates through a novel three-department collaborative mechanism—the General Education Department, the Department of Universal Foundation Studies, and The Shuyuan Department. Based on this mechanism, we have built a multidimensional framework via vertical integration, horizontal convergence, and dynamic adjustment. This structure fosters a Five Educations development model that strengthens foundational skills, broadens comprehensive literacy, and refines professional expertise.

The Department of Universal Foundation Studies focuses on core courses such as Mathematics, English, Chinese, and Physical Education, organizing multi-level academic competitions to unlock students' potential. The General Education Department offers over 100 interdisciplinary elective courses, transcending disciplinary boundaries to achieve seamless integration between general education and specialized training. The Shuyuan Department, grounded in five residential colleges, implements the principles of “enlightening minds, nurturing hearts, and tailored education.” It innovates with workshop-integrated courses and diverse activities to support students holistic development.

The school boasts a high-caliber faculty team led by esteemed senior professors and supported by dynamic mid-career educators. This team, renowned for its solid academic foundation and innovative spirit, has achieved remarkable accomplishments in teaching, research, and curriculum development, fostering a synergistic environment where instruction and scholarship continually enhance one another.  

In advancing educational reform, the college prioritizes innovations in curriculum design and pedagogical approaches, ensuring that foundational, general, and workshop-integrated courses align closely with the university's talent cultivation model. Driven by a threefold strategy of institutional optimization, faculty empowerment, and pedagogical innovation, the college has established a closed-loop system encompassing curriculum development, practical education, and evaluative feedback. This system creates a learning-centered and application-oriented educational ecosystem, shaping a new paradigm for holistic talent development.
