The School of Artificial Intelligence traces its origins to the Department of Computer Engineering established in 2001, boasting over two decades of educational heritage. Throughout its development, the college underwent multiple institutional adjustments. In 2017, the Department of Computer Engineering merged with the Department of Electronic Information Engineering to form the College of Information Engineering, which was renamed the College of Artificial Intelligence in 2019. During the 2024 institutional restructuring, the College of Artificial Intelligence integrated with the College of Industrial Internet and the College of Intelligent Terminals, reorganizing into two entities: the College of Artificial Intelligence and the College of Information Engineering. The college currently comprises four departments: Computer Science and Technology, Data Science and Big Data Technology, Network Engineering and Information Security, and Intelligent Science and Technology. Notably, its Computer Science and Technology program has been accredited as a National First-Class Undergraduate Program. In recent years, the college has rigorously implemented Outcome-Based Education (OBE) principles and integrated ideological-political education into its curriculum, cultivating outstanding graduates who now hold key positions in leading high-tech enterprises such as ByteDance, Star-net Communication Co., Ltd, Newland, and CATL, both within and beyond Fujian Province.
