To enhance students’ interest in learning English, improve their cross-cultural proficiency, create a conducive English learning environment, and promote the distinctive cultural activities of Yango University, the Department of Public Foundation successfully organized an English Corner on the evening of May 16th. The special theme for this event was the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and France.
For this activity, Florian, Joël, and Alain GROUSSIN, the foreign teacher specializing in e-commerce (Chinese-foreign cooperation), were invited. More than 20 students from our university participated in this English corner activity.
At the beginning of the activity, Mr. Florian shared his study experience, journey, and insights into the food, beauty, and local culture of France with the students, setting a positive tone for the English corner. The students then engaged in a lively discussion comparing Chinese and French culture. Li Jiahong illustrated the differences between Chinese and French wine culture using vivid examples and videos, and also showcased the breathtaking fireworks display at the Eiffel Tower in Paris. Quincy emphasized the significance of cross-cultural communication and expressed a desire to apply the knowledge and skills gained to enhance cross-cultural understanding. Xie Guanshui expressed his affection for the Eight Chinese Cuisines and extended well wishes for the friendship between China and France. The atmosphere throughout the activity was vibrant, with frequent applause, as the students effectively applied their English skills and cultural knowledge to enrich this activity.
Yango English Corner is designed to enhance students’ English proficiency and communication skills, provide a platform for them to showcase their talents and exchange ideas, and foster a harmonious and enjoyable English learning environment.
